Conceptually born from the cold and bitter isolation of midwestern pandemic-winter, Desolation Plains’ Sword of Hailstone is a multi-platform experience that serves as a welcome vehicle for imagination and interactivity. Inspired by the spirit of fantastical adventure, this one-man synthwave/dungeon synth project seeks to capture the wonder and nostalgia of role playing games. Leaning into the gentler synthwave end of the spectrum, with a basis in sparse yet vibrant soundscapes, Desolation Plains is inspired aesthetically by acts such as Old Sorcery, Murgrind, and Desiderii Marginis. Should the promise of a fantastical journey fraught with peril and surprise suits your fancy, Sword of Hailstone is a worthwhile endeavor. Adventure inevitably awaits.

This album comes with access to a hex crawl campaign that utilizes the Mörk Borg TTRPG platform.
A yellow cassette recorded on both sides, contained in a black maltese cross case.
The inside of the case will feature a hex map which will provide a location reference to the companion interactive RPG app.
