ARCANE CATASTROPHES

ARCANE CATASTROPHES is a deck of 52 standard-sized playing cards, each containing a wild, possibly game-breaking, and certainly character-melting magical disaster. They expand on the Arcane Catastrophe table in the core MÖRK BORG rules. With a bit of finesse, you could use them for any dark fantasy ttrpg where there's a chance of magic going VERY BAD.

These Arcane Catastrophes are meant to add outrageous complications that change the shape of the current encounter, if not completely changing the fate of the PCs. Some could even throw your campaign into entirely new directions. This deck is only for the brave, only the strong.

Advantages of this being a deck of cards rather than a table:
1) Your players will look at this deck like a ticking bomb, making them more excitable and prone to committing entertaining mistakes, and
2) forcing a player to physically REACH OUT and PLUCK their own catastrophe from a special deck made just for this purpose gives the whole thing a ritualistic weight that is guaranteed to overload your dopamine receptors.
